New challenge over at Mixed Media World:

From Scrap To Masterpiece

I have seen these altered brushes for ages and have been desperate to try one, and this seemed perfect for this challenge. I have plenty of decorator's brushes that I'm too lazy to clean after painting that seem to lay abandoned and harden up over time. They usually end up in the bin, but what a perfect way to recycle them!

I painted it with black gesso to cover up the paint splotches, but left a few bristles so it adds some highlights.

Lots of Prima embellies from Finnabar, and some Say it in Crystals gems.

Splatters!! Oh yes, the splatter effect in full force of this piece!! I used the Mini Art Stones mixed in with the black gesso to create texture going up the side and down the front of the brush.

I used complimentary colours, Fresh Orange and Light Patina from Finnabair's new Art Alchemy range.

The very small speckles is embossing powder sprinkled on when the gesso was still wet and then dried.

And a fave word... what is a project without an inspiring word of wisdom :)

Hope you will join us for this challenge! Perfect for all levels and who doesn't have something that needs altering/saving/decorating haha!

Love and hugs

  1. Georgie, what a fabulous and elegant transformation of such a mundane trashbound piece! I love the colors and texture you've created here! So inspiring!
